Sony's new aftermarket receiver supports CarPlay and Android Auto

Sony's latest aftermarket head unit will support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The XAV-AX100 features a 6.4-inch display and comes with Bluetooth and an input for a rearview camera. Notably it doesn't come with an auxiliary port, so if your phone doesn't support Android Auto or CarPlay you may be stuck with crappy Bluetooth audio or listening to the radio.

The XAV-AX100 also only comes with one USB port, which is in the back of the unit, which could make charging your phone difficult if you don't have other means. But the biggest selling point of Sony's receiver may be the price; at $499 it's easily the most affordable aftermarket Android Auto or CarPlay unit on the market. And while many manufacturers like JVC make you choose between the two competing platforms, Sony doesn't. Sony says the XAV-AX100 will be available in the US in late November.
